DESCRIPTION:Investing in the growth of underrepresented and\n\nunderserved entrepreneurs\n\nSocial\, educational\, and economic inequity can hinder entrepreneurs\n\nfrom achieving their full potential. At Wharton Executive Education\,\n\nwe believe that academic institutions have a collective responsibility\n\nto help mitigate this inequity by providing access to continuing\n\neducation\, mentorship\, and capital to underserved communities.\n\nTo do so\, we have established the Knowledge for Impact Award to\n\naid small-business owners operating in low-income areas. This award is\n\nan investment in talented entrepreneurs around the country\, as well as\n\na commitment to diversity and inclusion in Wharton's programming\n\nand classrooms.\n\n\n\nWHAT THE AWARD OFFERS\n\nThe Knowledge for Impact Award enables six entrepreneurs\n\nper academic year to attend an upcoming Wharton Executive\n\nEducation live online program at no cost. Their business must\n\nbe located (or primarily conduct business) in a designated\n\nOpportunity Zone. The available programs\, listed below\, enable\n\nparticipants to acquire invaluable business and interpersonal skills\n\nas well as practical tools in finance and accounting\, negotiations\,\n\nbusiness strategy\, governance\, and marketing.*\n\n Business Essentials for Executives\n\nOct. 31 Nov. 4\, 2022\n\n Corporate Governance: Essentials for a New Business Era\n\nApr. 19 27\, 2023\n\n Customer Analytics for Growth\n\nUsing Machine Learning\, AI\, and Big Data\n\nMar. 6 10\, 2023\n\n Finance and Accounting for the Non-Financial Manager\n\nJan. 30 Feb. 3\, 2023\n\n Negotiation and Influence: Making Deals and Strategy Work\n\nJan. 25 Mar. 1\, 2023\n\n\n\nWHO SHOULD APPLY\n\nEntrepreneurs and small-business owners operating a business in a\n\ndesignated Opportunity Zone in the United States and U.S. territories\n\nwho are striving to further their enterprise and who are committed\n\nto supporting diversity\, equity\, and inclusion will benefit from this\n\nprogram.\n\nA small business should meet at least one of the following criteria:\n\n Located in an Opportunity Zone\n\n Generates 50 percent or more of its gross income in an\n\nOpportunity Zone\n\n 50 percent or more of the services provided or products\n\nmanufactured are done in an Opportunity Zone\n\nSuccessful award recipients will have an existing business that has\n\nbeen in operation for at least seven years and generates at least\n\n$500\,000 in revenue.\n\nThe award is open to U.S. citizens or permanent green card holders\n\nonly. Applicants who are not U.S. citizens or permanent green card\n\nholders are ineligible. Travel expenses to and from Philadelphia are\n\nnot covered.
