Join us on Friday, July 26 from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. to hear from Councilmember-At-Large Derek S. Green on the local business purchasing initiative. This initiative aims to increase local business access to City of Philadelphia procurement opportunities by streamlining the process for purchases under $100,000, encouraging competition, and removing barriers to entry into the system.
On April 11, 2019, Councilmember Green introduced legislation that would increase the maximum dollar amount when a formal bid or RFP is required – raising the threshold from $34,000 to $100,000 – if contracting with a local business, and from $34,000 to $75,000 for all business.
At the event, members will have the chance to network, learn more about the impact of the local business purchasing initiative, as well as participate in a Q&A with Councilmember Green. Iola Harper, Deputy Commerce Director Office of Economic Opportunity, and Stephanie Tipton, the Interim Administrative Officer, will be in attendance to answer any procurement and business-related questions.
This event is free and open to AACC members only. Lunch will be served.
