Although the Emancipation Proclamation was signed and went into effect on January 1, 1863, the last enslaved African-Americans were not emancipated until June 19, 1865 -- also known as Juneteenth. More than 150 years later, Black Americans continue to lag behind other groups in terms of wealth and accessing capital to launch their own businesses. In fact, minority businesses are less likely to receive a loan or outside funding and are more likely to rely on personal wealth and finances.
Join us on Tuesday, June 19 for a Juneteenth celebration as we discuss ways Black Americans can work together to dismantle the barriers in place that limit their access to capital. This event is powered by Pipeline Philly and will be catered by Details by Ms. Dawn.
